White Pine
Jones Family Farms has 200 acres of Christmas trees for visitors to hike through to find and harvest their own special Christmas tree. We grow a selection of varieties, including: Blue Spruce, Fraser Fir, Douglas Fir, Balsam Fir, White Pine and White Fir. All of these varieties were selected for their fragrance and needle retention. The farmers tend to each tree on the farm by hand and by the time a guest harvests a tree to bring home, that tree has been cared for at our farm for 8 to 10 years.
All harvest-your-own trees are the same price for any sized tree. Prices are determined before the start of each harvest season. In 2009, all harvest-your-own trees are $60 ($56.60 plus tax). Along with your harvest-your-own Christmas tree each family receives a special dated and farm-designed pewter ornament from Woodbury Pewter. The 2009 pewter ornament features our dairy barn decked for the holidays with a large wreath.
In our choose and cut tree fields, there is a wonderful selection of trees that are up to 10 feet tall. Customers looking for a taller tree should plan on cutting a tree earlier in the harvest season.
The farm’s property is classic New England with its rolling hillsides and sometimes rocky terrain. The farmers recommend you wear solid footgear (such as boots or sneakers), bring extra clothing (the temperature on the top of the hill could be much colder than when you left your house), and a good pair of work gloves and a tarp for carrying/pulling the tree to a baling station. For other tips on visiting us during Christmas season, check out our Plan Your Visit page.
For those interested in harvesting a tree, please arrive at the farm by 4 PM. This ensures you will be able to find a tree and return to the baling and sales area before dark.
We provide handsaws to our guests. On really busy weekends (the first few in December) if you have a handsaw, it may be wise to bring it so you don’t have to wait for one to be returned. We cannot allow power saws of any kind (sawz-all, chainsaws, etc.) or axes into the fields. Our farmers will bale your tree for easy transport home, and free twine is provided for you to tie the tree on your car.
