Jones Family farms

Kitchen Biographies

Jean Crum Jones started the Harvest Kitchen as a way to pursue her passionate interest in teaching others about food, nutrition, and agriculture.  Jean gradually learned the ways of sustainable farming and traditional New England cooking after marrying Farmer Terry Jones (5th generation) and moving to the farm in 1969.  Professionally, Jean has worked as a Registered Dietitian and Community Nutritionist, serving as an administrative dietitian with Yale Dining Services, as a clinical dietitian in New Haven health centers, and as an adjunct associate professor at various colleges in Connecticut.

Chef Sherry Swanson uses her love of cooking and good food to create innovative menus based on the freshes and finest quality ingredients available.  Classically trained in French and Italian cooking techniques, Sherry is also a certified sommelier.  In addition to teaching cooking classes at the Harvest Kitchen, Sherry also teaches private classes and runs her own business - A Culinary Experience (www.aculinaryexperience.com).

Farmer Allyson Angelini joined the Harvest Kitchen team last season as an apprentice and now works with the farm full-time - managing the vegetable garden as well as organizing and teaching cooking classes.
