The dog days of summer have arrived, and with them come a fresh crop of blueberries across Connecticut. In Shelton, Jones Family Farms has been inviting pickers to come harvest their own blueberries for over 40 years. Not only is picking blueberries a wonderful summertime adventure, they taste great and they are among the healthiest fruits around.
The farmers at Jones Family Farms are stepping up the healthy aspect another notch. “We’ve equipped all of our summer retail crew with pedometers,” said Keith Padin, Marketing & Hospitality Director for the farm. “We are recording everyone’s steps at the end of every day and will be reporting our progress on our Facebook page (Facebook.com/JonesFamilyFarms) so people can follow along with us and see how many miles we’ve walked by the end of the blueberry season.”
Jones Family Farms is open for blueberry picking Tues – Sat from 9:00am to 5:30pm. The fields are closed on Sundays and Mondays.
