EARLY SUMMER WEATHER HAS STRAWBERRIES RIPE WITH FLAVOR!

Jones Family Farms, in the White Hills of Shelton, CT, is happy to announce that Strawberry Season in Connecticut has arrived! The Jones’ strawberry fields at their Valley Farm and Pumpkinseed Hill Farm are ready and pickers have been filling boxes with big red beautiful strawberries all week.

25TH Annual UNICEF Festival Raises $7000 For The Children

For the 25th year, the farmers at Jones Family Farms held their UNICEF Family Festival this past weekend. Guests were able to donate funds directly to UNICEF in cans and the traditional orange collection boxes, or by purchasing tickets for fun items such as face painting, button making, pumpkin painting and more.

In 1985 the first pumpkins were sold by Terry and Jean Jones, of Jones Family Farms, at their Pumpkinseed Hill farm on Beardsley Road in Shelton. Twenty-five years later, spending a fall afternoon at the farm remains a tradition for many Connecticut families.

Traditionally, Jones Family Farms is ramping up their strawberry season preparation the beginning of June to open a week or two into the month. This year, Mother Nature has helped to break tradition. Due to the very warm weather Connecticut has experienced this spring, the strawberries are already ripe for the picking.

CT Grown Chritmas Trees Fill Governor's Residence

This upcoming weekend, December 4-6, Governor M. Jodi Rell is inviting the public to an open house at her Hartford residence. The open house will feature choral groups throughout the weekend and a visit from Santa. Each room in the residence is magnificently decorated and all the Christmas trees at the residence come directly from Connecticut farmland.

Jones Family Farms in Shelton, CT, in conjunction with the CT Christmas Tree Growers Association, has supplied nine trees of differing sizes and varieties to be used throughout the Governor’s residence for the holiday season.
