No Place Like Home Class Canceled-The Vineyard, MA
To ensure the safety of our staff and farm guests, we have canceled our Spring Series. Wishing everyone well during these uncertain times.
The Vineyard, MA will inspire our April 4th menu and discussion:
A delightful island with five distinct villages, it is united by its desire to keep alive the Vineyard’s history as a self-sufficient fishing and agricultural settlement. There are thriving organizations which preserve the remaining island farms, farm stands, and agricultural fairs as well as an active local foods education program organized by and for year-round residents.
Menu to highlight Baked Scallops; Baby Potato, Greens and Chickpea Hash; Apple Berry Compote
No Place Like Home
Six New England Places of Food Distinction
Our 2020 Spring Series will emphasize the simple, honest cooking of New England with recipes inspired by the wealth of superb indigenous ingredients so abundant in our unique agricultural area. As well as learning about the special character of each New England locality, tips for creating a thrifty, sustainable, and seasonal kitchen that enables you to easily make delicious and wholesome meals will be provided.
Our limited number of cooking classes is snuggled in between our busy farm harvest seasons. Each class is unique and especially developed for its scheduled day so we can highlight the regional, farm food ingredients of the season. Our classes are taught using a combination of cooking demonstration and hands-on preparation by the class participants. Jean Jones, Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist, will also discuss the cultural and nutritional aspects of the foods we are studying. We conclude each class by dining at our ample farm table, enjoying a specially selected glass of Jones wine. Students leave with copies of our simple, flavorful recipes and other relevant information.
This class is full, registration is closed.
