No Place Like Home Class Cancelled-Litchfield, CT

Date:
Saturday, April 25 to Sunday, April 26
Time:
12:00 pm to 2:45 pm
Location:

To ensure the safety of our staff and farm guests, we have canceled our Spring Series. Wishing everyone well during these uncertain times.

Litchfield, CT will inspire our April 25th menu and discussion:

Located in the western hills of the Housatonic River watershed, this historic region is home to many Connecticut firsts – its first law school and its first agricultural school.  Creative artists from New York City have long sought the quiet nature and scenic farmlands of Litchfield as a place of refuge. One of the largest farm regions in Connecticut, it is the home of many innovative farmers and the source of many delicious foodstuffs.

Six New England Places of Food Distinction

Our 2020 Spring Series will emphasize the simple, honest cooking of New England with recipes inspired by the wealth of superb indigenous ingredients so abundant in our unique agricultural area. As well as learning about the special character of each New England locality, tips for creating a thrifty, sustainable, and seasonal kitchen that enables you to easily make delicious and wholesome meals will be provided.

Our limited number of cooking classes is snuggled in between our busy farm harvest seasons. Each class is unique and especially developed for its scheduled day so we can highlight the regional, farm food ingredients of the season. Our classes are taught using a combination of cooking demonstration and hands-on preparation by the class participants. Jean Jones, Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist, will also discuss the cultural and nutritional aspects of the foods we are studying. We conclude each class by dining at our ample farm table, enjoying a specially selected glass of Jones wine. Students leave with copies of our simple, flavorful recipes and other relevant information.
