Black Currant Bouquet

Black currants are most often seen in the grocery store dried like a raisin. Popular in Northern Europe. The process of making this wine is similar to that of making red wine. The whole berries are fermented for 5-7 days, then cold fermented in stainless steel for 5-6 months. One of three, intensely-flavored fruit dessert wines, this 100% Connecticut-grown fruit wine is robust and full-bodied. It starts quite tart but then has a smooth, tart finish.

Food Pairings:

  • Dark chocolate desserts/dark chocolate truffles
  • Stone fruits
  • Cheesecake
  • Ice cream
  • Ricotta, fresh mozzarella

If you like Creme de Cassis, this is your wine!

Suggestion: mix 1/4 Black Currant wine with 3/4 Whimsical White to make a play on a Kir Royal.
