For Kindergarten and First Grade Students

Our Educator Guided Fall Harvest Program for Kindergarten and First Grade students provides children with a fun and educational farming experience. Children will enjoy a hay wagon tour of the farm fields to see the growing crops and landmarks of a classic New England farm (weather-permitting). Depending on the grade-level of the students, we offer one of the following lessons:

Kindergarten Program

At the field classroom, our farm educator will teach what a plant needs to survive and how farmers grow their crops. Students in kindergarten will focus on the ways farmers work with the weather and seasons to grow food. Students will then harvest their own pumpkin from a real pumpkin field! After harvest, the students will return to their chaperones who will help bag the pumpkins before returning to the Harvest Yard.

First Grade Program

At the field classroom, our farm educator will teach what a plant needs to survive and how farmers grow their crops. First grade students will learn about the role of wildlife on a farm, and the ways in which animals may help or hinder a farm’s growing plants. Students will then harvest their own pumpkin. After harvest, the students will return to their chaperones who will help bag the pumpkins before returning to the Harvest Yard.

2026 Program

Dates Offered: September 29 through October 29

  • Wednesdays
  • Thursdays
  • Fridays

Cost:

  • $14.25 per student

Times Offered:

  • 9:30 am (-10:30am)
  • 11:00 am (-12pm)

Our program runs for one hour.

We can accommodate up to 2 hayrides (with 45 people per hayride) at each time slot.

Please select a time that your group could aim to arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled tour. It is helpful to factor in this extra time for traffic delays, restroom requests by students upon arrival, as well as the process for unloading and organizing classes before the program (which starts with our hayride).

If we are not able to begin the program at your scheduled tour time, we may have to shorten the program to ensure we can still complete the tour within the scheduled time-frame.
