Here's the Latest Info on our Strawberry Season
When are you open to pick strawberries?
We open early to mid-June. Our hours for strawberry picking are highly dependent on weather and field conditions and so will vary throughout the season. Visit our website for today's farm hours and the most up-to-date information.
How much do the strawberries cost this year?
Please visit our reservation page for current pricing. Strawberries require year-round care, and our pricing reflects the labor and resources needed to grow and harvest the crop.
Are reservations required?
Reservations are very important this year. We are anticipating a shorter, more variable season due to recent weather extremes, resulting in reduced strawberry acreage. This year, we plan to post reservations only one day in advance as we evaluate crop conditions. Strawberries are a delicate crop, and even small weather changes can impact ripening and availability.
On many days, reservations will be offered for morning hours only. Walk-ins will be accepted during these times if space allows, though guests with reservations will receive priority when picking is limited. During the afternoons we are open, walk-ins are welcome as the crop allows.
Do you sell pre-picked berries?
When enough fruit is available, our farmers will harvest quarts of strawberries to sell. Supply is limited and will vary throughout the season. It's always best to check our strawberry update page before coming to confirm availability.
When is the best time to come? How long will the strawberry season last?
The timing and duration of the season will depend on the weather. With less strawberry acreage due to extreme weather conditions in recent years, we anticipate a shorter and more variable season. We cannot guarantee how late into June we will be picking, so rather than planning for a specific date, we recommend checking our website or social media channels and not delay coming if you see that we are open.
I’m not interested in strawberry picking. Can I just come to walk around?
To experience the beauty of the farm, consider joining us for our Summerfest events in June and July. Please see our Events page for more details.
During our dedicated strawberry and blueberry hours, all guests must purchase containers for harvesting to enter the farm.
Can I bring my own containers?
Only designated Jones berry picking containers that have been paid to fill are allowed in the field. Our pricing is based on the amount of fruit that fits in these containers.
Are your strawberries organic?
We strive to use the most environmentally responsible farming practices through Integrated Pest Management, but we are not a certified organic farm. If you have a specific question or concern, please email us at farmer@jonesfamilyfarms.com.
Do you spray your strawberries?
Occasionally, if necessary to save a crop. Any such intervention washes off or breaks down before pickers are allowed into the field. There is no safety concern with eating our produce, although we always recommend washing berries at home before enjoying them, since they grow in a natural environment.
How do you keep animals out of your strawberry fields?
We don’t actively keep animals out, which can sometimes be challenging! We share this farm with a wide range of wildlife and are proud to be part of a healthy, diverse ecosystem.
When will the Berry Ferry be running?
For strawberry season, we plan to have our Berry Ferry available to take guests out to the field Monday through Thursdays, weather depending.
Can I bring my stroller or wagon?
Strollers and wagons can be a great option when walking to the fields, however please keep in mind that they are not permitted to enter our narrow strawberry field lanes. Our staff will ask you to park your stroller or wagon outside the field entrance. When the Berry Ferry is running, we cannot accommodate strollers and wagons on the ride.
Can I bring my picnic?
We offer a selection of farm snacks at our Market Stand for your convenience; such as popcorn, locally-made ice cream and strawberry popsicles. Outside food and picnicking are not permitted at the farm.
What’s the best way to care for my strawberries?
Strawberries are very delicate and do not hold up well in direct sun or extreme heat. After picking, keep your berries in a cool place as soon as possible. Please see our Berry Care page for more information on how to store and care for your fruit.
I’d like to go strawberry picking with my group. Do I need to make a reservation ahead?
Yes—reservations are very important this year. Reservations will be posted one day in advance as we evaluate crop conditions. For organized groups larger than 10 people, we appreciate an email to farmer@jonesfamilyfarms.com so we can help coordinate your visit. Please keep in mind our strawberry lanes are narrow, so your group should come prepared to break up into smaller teams for picking.
When will the blueberries be ready?
It all depends on the weather! Blueberry season typically begins in early July. Keep following our website for the latest updates.
