Jones Family Farms grows over 50 varieties of pumpkins, squash and gourds. Some of our more common varieties are listed below:
Acorn
This small, dark green squash with deep ridges is shaped like an acorn. The acorn squash may turn orange during storage.
Buttercup
This delicious squash has a round dark green shell that is sometimes spotted or striped with gray-colored top.
Butternut
Butternut squash is pear-shaped with smooth, thin, light tan to orange colored skin. The flesh is finely textured and sweet, and is one of the greatest sources of Vitamin A in all winter squash.
Hubbard
This squash is large, deep green or pale green, grey-blue or orange on the outside. They can weigh up to 20 pounds. The skin is hard, thick and bumpy, and very difficult to cut. Hubbard squash is tasty and high in vitamin A.
Pumpkin
We have pumpkins in classic orange and even in white! They come in many different shapes and sizes. For cooking, choose the small, dull orange, thinner variety called the sugar pumpkin.
