Virtual Farm Tour

Jones Family Farms is a 400-acre farm nestled in the White Hills of Shelton, Connecticut. The Jones family sells their crops “harvest-your-own” style. The farm grows all of its pumpkins, as well as dozens of unique winter squashes.

During our Fall School Programs, children enjoy a hay wagon tour of the farm fields to see the growing crops and landmarks of a classic New England farm.

At the field classroom our farm educator teaches about growing crops, providing a unique experience for each grade level.

Students will then harvest their own pumpkin.

After selecting their pumpkin, students will carry them back to the hay wagon. Teachers are encouraged to bring nametags for helping label each student's pumpkin.

Chaperones play an important role helping students as they become farmers for a day.

Upon returning to the Harvest Yard, classes may take a self-guided tour to explore the over 50 varieties of pumpkins, squash, and gourds grown at the farm.

To learn more about how pumpkins grow at Jones Family Farms, teachers and students are encouraged to watch a video that our farmers put together:

Be Good to the Land and the Land will be Good to You.
