Red Wines

2017 Jones Cabernet Franc

Cabernet Franc is the parent grape of Cabernet Sauvignon. Our Vintner Select Cabernet Franc is 100% Estate-grown fruit from Jones Family Farms vineyards (90% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot.) Great care is taken in making our Cab Franc as we hand-select the best grape clusters. This wine is barrel-aged in French, American, and Hungarian oak for 6-8 months. It has aromas of bell pepper and spices like a classic Cab Franc from the Loire region of France (Chinon) and flavors of red cherry and cranberry. It pairs well with anything off the grill.

Food Pairings:

  • Steak, pork, turkey, chicken, and grilled meats
  • Quinoa, black beans, lentils
  • Vegetarian dishes (grilled Portobello mushrooms)
  • Camembert and Cato Corner - aged Bloomsday, feta, Fontina, and blue cheese

If you like peppery flavors, this is your wine!

Cabernet Franc, Merlot.

Our Merlot is made from 100% California fruit (90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon) in the Bordeaux style and is the fullest red wine made by Jones Winery. This full-bodied, dark, garnet-colored wine has aromas of cedar, chocolate, and smoky oak. Silky with ripe flavors of black cherry, blackberry, and mulberry. It is barrel aged 6-8 months in a mix of French, American, and Hungarian oak. This wine is a perfect match for beef, pork, lamb, and duck as well as rich, bold cheeses.

Food pairings:

  • Steak, roasted lamb, and pork
  • Cato Corner's aged Bloomsday or Womanchego
  • Charcuterie
  • Roasted potatoes with rosemary/stuff mushrooms
  • Gouda, Camembert, brie, gorgonzola, and cheddar

If you like full-bodied Merlot, this is your wine!

Merlot and Petit Syrah; California-grown

This dry, ruby-red wine is part of our Heritage Series and is one of the original wines produced at Jones Family Farms. It has smooth flavors of dark cherries, raspberries, and plum. If you tend towards Italian food and wine, this is a perfect match! Made with California grapes, this medium-bodied wine is a process of both stainless steel and oak barrel aging (12 months.) Made from California grapes including: Sangiovese, Barbera, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petite Verdot. Ripton Red pairs well with braised short ribs, tomato-based pasta dishes, and Italian cheeses.

  • Osso buco
  • Pizza
  • Pasta Bolognese, lasagna, and carbonara
  • Parmeson & Pecorino
  • Aged Gouda

Montepulciano, Sangiovese, Petit Verdot; 80% California, 20% Estate-grown

Beacon Light #8 is part of our Heritage Series of wines. The vineyard where our Jones grapes are grown was once named Beacon Light Dairy Farm, named for the land beacons used to help planes navigate between New York and Boston. This off-dry wine is made with a blend of 7 or more different grape varietals including Cabernet Franc, Lemberger, Marquette, Chancellor, Corot Noir, St. Croix, and Merlot. Fermented and aged in stainless steel for 12 months. Serve chilled and this wine is similar to a sangria; serve at room temperature and you'll experience a light port!
