White Wines

This dry, aromatic, sparkling white wine has bright flavors of grapefruit, honeysuckle, and hints of white peach. The grape varietal is 50% the offspring of Riesling & Cayuga White grapes (a yet-unnamed hybrid developed by Cornell University) grown 100% in our Jones Family Farms vineyards, blended with Vidal Blanc which composes the other 50% of this wine's makeup. Whimsical White is cold-fermented in stainless steel for 7-9 months and is carbonated and bottled using the "Charmant" method, which yields a Frizzante-style sparkling wine: small, gentle bubbles.

This dry wine is made from 100% Jones Family Farms Muscat Ottonel grapes. The Muscat grape is normally used to make dessert wine; however, ours is made in an Alsatian style. Not to be confused with Muscato which is sweet. A sophisticated wine, it is known for its delicate, floral aromas with scents of jasmine, honeysuckle, and orange blossom with flavors of mandarin orange, honey, and tropical fruits. Cold fermented in stainless steel for 7-9 months, it pairs well with light dishes, fresh cheeses, and vegetables.

Our Sunshine White is the perfect summer sipping wine! Cold-fermented in stainless steel from 7-9 months, this wine is fruit forward with scents of green apple and lilac are the result of a unique, proprietary blend of four grapes sourced 100% from our Jones Family Farms vineyards. This delicately-sweet, easy-drinking white wine has flavors of honeydew, pineapple, and candied citrus that pairs well with lighter dishes or spicy food. This dry Riesling is made with 100% Jones Family Farms fruit and is made in the style of Alsace. It is cold fermented in stainless steel for 7-9 months. This aromatic wine has scents of honeycomb and citrus blossom and pairs well with spicy dishes, rich cheeses, and seafood.

Chardonnay is one of the classic European white grapes that we can grow in this region. Our Chardonnay is cold-fermented in stainless steel from 7-9 months and is made from 100% Jones Family Farms estate-grown fruit. It is closer in style to a Sauvignon Blanc. It has a crisp, clean complexity of yellow apple, lemongrass, and citrus. It pairs well with all kinds of seafood and semi-soft cheeses. It pairs perfectly with quiche, salad, and is a perfect brunch wine.

Pinot Gris and Pinot Grigio are the same grape although the wines are made differently. Our climate is similar to northern France so our Alsatian-style Pinot Gris is richer and fuller than a typical Italian Pinot Grigio. An estate wine, our Pinot Gris (pee no gree) is crisp and fresh with floral aromas and flavors of almond and orange blossom. This wine is cold fermented in stainless steel for 7-9 months and is made from 100% Jones Family Farms vineyards fruit: 90% Pinot Gris, 10% Muscat Ottonel. This medium-bodied, dry white wine pairs well with shellfish and chicken and is a great cooking wine, especially for dishes that have lemon butter sauces like Sole or Chicken Francaise. What grows together goes together and our Pinot Gris is a perfect example that pairs beautifully with CT seafood.

Woodlands White is part of our Heritage Series and the original wine made and sold at Jones Family Farms beginning in 2004. Winner of the 2019 Big E Wine Competition for "Best Grape Wine" and "Best Wine in Connecticut" as well as a Gold Medal. It is a blend of Cayuga White, Vidal Blanc, and Seyval Blanc grapes. Cold fermented in stainless steel for 7-9 months, this off-dry wine is both crisp and slightly sweet on the finish. It's flavor profile is similar to a Riesling. It pairs well with a whole variety of foods - when in doubt, it is a go-to wine with almost any food, from appetizer to dessert (making it a great gift wine!)

Rosé Wines

This wine is an off-dry (medium-dry) "light red" wine with aromas of fresh berries and plums with nice acidity. The DeChaunac grape (a French/American hybrid) is bluish-black in color and the primary grape used in this wine. It is cold-fermented in stainless steel and the grapes are pressed, not crushed, and treated like a white grape (skins removed after pressing.) It is a limited production from the 2018 Jones grape harvest and is a perfect picnic wine. It pairs well with BBQ and picnic foods, as well as

  • Quiche, Ceviche and Paella
  • Pork, shrimp, grilled chicken, and tuna
  • Bacon and prosciutto
  • Chevre goat cheese and Colby Jack

Red Wines

This dry, ruby-red wine is part of our Heritage Series and is one of the original wines produced at Jones Family Farms. It has smooth flavors of dark cherries, raspberries, and plum. If you tend towards Italian food and wine, this is a perfect match! Made with California grapes, this medium-bodied wine is a process of both stainless steel and oak barrel aging (12 months.) Made from California grapes including: Sangiovese, Barbera, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petite Verdot. Ripton Red pairs well with braised short ribs, tomato-based pasta dishes, and Italian cheeses.

Beacon Light #8 is part of our Heritage Series of wines. The vineyard where our Jones grapes are grown was once named Beacon Light Dairy Farm, named for the land beacons used to help planes navigate between New York and Boston. This off-dry wine is made with a blend of 7 or more different grape varietals including Cabernet Franc, Lemberger, Marquette, Chancellor, Corot Noir, St. Croix, and Merlot. Fermented and aged in stainless steel for 12 months. Serve chilled and this wine is similar to a sangria; serve at room temperature and you'll experience a light port!

2017 Jones Cabernet Franc Now Available!

Cabernet Franc is the parent grape of Cabernet Sauvignon. Our Vintner Select Cabernet Franc is 100% Estate-grown fruit from Jones Family Farms vineyards (90% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot.) Great care is taken in making our Cab Franc as we hand-select the best grape clusters. This wine is barrel-aged in French, American, and Hungarian oak for 6-8 months. It has aromas of bell pepper and spices like a classic Cab Franc from the Loire region of France (Chinon) and flavors of red cherry and cranberry. It pairs well with anything off the grill.

  • Steak, pork, turkey, chicken, and grilled meats
  • Quinoa, black beans, lentils
  • Vegetarian dishes (grilled Portobello mushrooms)

Our Merlot is made from 100% California fruit (90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon) in the Bordeaux style and is the fullest red wine made by Jones Winery. This full-bodied, dark, garnet-colored wine has aromas of cedar, chocolate, and smoky oak. Silky with ripe flavors of black cherry, blackberry, and mulberry. It is barrel aged 6-8 months in a mix of French, American, and Hungarian oak. This wine is a perfect match for beef, pork, lamb, and duck as well as rich, bold cheeses.

Fruit Wines

First Blush is the sister wine to Harvest Time. It is a blend of Connecticut-grown apples, pears, and black currants. (Apples sourced from Beardsley Farm in Shelton, CT; pears sourced from Bishops Orchards in Guilford, CT; black currants sourced from Maple Lane Farms in Preston, CT.) This wine is a bit sweeter than Harvest Time and is slightly tart (and deeper in color) from the addition of black currants. Cold-fermented in stainless steel from 7-9 months, this is a great summer, sipping wine and pairs well with spicy foods and Caribbean-style food.

Harvest Time is an apple and pear wine made from 100% Connecticut-grown fruit. It's make-up is 50% apples (sourced from Beardsley Cider Mill in Shelton, CT) and 50% pears (sourced from Bishops Orchards in Guilford, CT.) This off-dry wine is treated just like a white wine and is cold-fermented in stainless steel from 7-9 months. With its obvious flavors of apple and pear, it is delicately sweet with a crisp finish and is an exceptional wine for food pairing. It pairs well with all of the harvest foods that we enjoy in the fall and winter months (especially suited for your Thanksgiving table) but is equally-capable in its ability to share the stage with year-round fare, as well. It also mixes well, meaning you can create a diverse menu of tasty wine cocktails and sangrias!

Our top-selling wine, this sparkling, strawberry wine is made from our Jones Family Farms strawberries! This wine combines the sweet aroma of strawberry fields, the structure of a crisp white wine (Chenin Blanc) and bubbles. This celebration wine is perfect for special occasions, brunches, and summer days. The process of this wine's making begins with the harvesting of fresh, Jones strawberries in June each year. Strawberries are fermented, similar to red wine, for 3-5 days, then blended with the dry white wine, carbonated, and bottled. For maximum flavor and enjoyment, serve this wine ice cold!

Dessert Wines

One of three, intensely-flavored Jones dessert wines, our Raspberry Rhapsody is a tasting room favorite! This wine uses American-grown raspberries to create a sweet wine literally bursting with concentrated raspberry flavor! The process of making these fruit dessert wines is very similar to that of making red grapes. The fruit is fermented 3-5 days, then cold fermented in stainless steel for 7-9 months. This 100% fruit wine pairs well with anything chocolate and any creamy cheese.

Black currants are most often seen in the grocery store dried like a raisin. Popular in Northern Europe. The process of making this wine is similar to that of making red wine. The whole berries are fermented for 5-7 days, then cold fermented in stainless steel for 7-9 months. One of three, intensely-flavored fruit dessert wines, this 100% Connecticut-grown fruit wine is robust and full-bodied. It starts quite tart but then has a smooth, tart finish.

If you like Creme de Cassis, this is your wine!

Our Blueberry Bliss dessert wine is made from 100% Jones Family Farms and American grown blueberries. The process of making this wine is similar to that of making a red wine. The whole berries are fermented for 5-7 days, then cold fermented for 7-9 months. A smooth, sweet, and slightly tart full-bodied, intensely-blueberry dessert wine pairs especially well with a cheese course or cheesecake. This wine can also be reduced down to a syrup to put over vanilla ice cream, apple pie, cheesecake, or chocolate cake.

This fortified, 'port-style' wine is made from 100% Jones Family Farms vineyard fruit. The grapes are blended and fermented, then our own grape brandy is added to stop fermentation. The addition of the brandy is what makes this a fortified wine. Our Seven Generations is not aged as long as a typical port and is less sweet and lighter in body. The brandy preserves the wine, making an open bottle last out-of-sunlight for several weeks. This wine is made in the traditional Porto method and barrel aged for 2 years. Grape varietals used to craft this wine include Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Lemberger, Marquette, St. Croix, Chancellor, Corot Noir, and 100% white, natural Brandy - 100% from Jones Family Farms vineyards.
